Untraditional Workouts

I'm so glad that the weather was beautiful today! I ran four miles and was neither cold nor hot. Ideal! Last week I had a hard time wanting to run outside because it was a little chilly. It wasn't even that bad, but I hesitate more to bundle up my kids for the cold.Anyway, one day I didn't feel like taking my kids out in the cooler weather, so I was about to do an aerobics video. Then, however, I thought about my little three year old and how I could probably play with him and get my exercise as well if I made a point to do so. I told him that I wanted to exercise and that he could decide what we did. It worked great! He'd say "Run!" and take off down the hall. We'd run around like banshees until he exclaimed, "Jump!" Then of course we would leap around as high as our legs could carry us. He also said things like, "Down on the floor!" which gave me the cue to do pushups. We did that for about fifteen minutes. Then my son found a long jump rope and wanted to create a game with it. We layed it down the hall and jumped mogul ski-style over the rope. It was a great workout. Try jumping like that for a few minutes straight and you will surely feel it. I finished off my workout with crunches and hand weights.
I need to continue running regularly, but periodically, this untraditional workout with my son will be perfect! On a side note, I thought I'd post this picture of my progress. I still weigh 151, but I can tell that I'm still slimming down even though my weight isn't dropping much. Hooray for success!

  2. You look awesome!! Keep it up!! It is discouraging when you aren't losing, but you are staying healthy and fit and you will start to lose more.I have been strictly working out for about 3 weeks trying to lose this baby weight and haven't lost a pound, but I feel better and hopefully that weight starts coming off soon!! Thanks for the tips and encouragement!!!
