Winter Can Be Tricky

For those of you without kids and a gym membership, bad weather is no big deal. You can head to the gym at your convenience and work out in a climate-controlled gym. For some of us, however, cold, snowy weather presents a bit of a challenge.
Whenever the weather is reasonably nice (meaning at least a temperature in the mid-twenties and clear roads, I bundle my kids in their warmest attire, pile on the blankets and head out to jog. Last week I went three times and got in 13 miles- pretty sweet in the winter.
This week, however, it's been stormy nearly every day. I did the Dorm Room Workout on www.exercisetv.tv on Monday and some miscellaneous strength exercises during the week. Today I got out, but not early enough because when I had only run a mile and a half, it started to snow. I was able to finish the second mile, but by then the snow was falling heavily in giant snowflakes. It was beautiful, but certainly not ideal for running, especially with kids.
Anyone have fun ideas for getting your exercise indoors with kids?

  1. Thanks Jen! You are an inspiration! I feel frustrated at times trying to fit in work outs with 3 kids & no option of going to a gym. I appreciate all your suggestions!
